A day in the life of Blanca Rodriguez

In January 2023 Blanca Rodriguez joined Clinisys as Project Engineer. Find out what Blanca loves about her job and how it has evolved from the start until now. 

Have you always had a clear idea of what you wanted to do in life?  
From the first time I was introduced to biology in high school, I remember feeling an enormous interest in the subject. I was passionate about understanding how living systems work, and how genetics can shape much of human health. 

Have you already worked in the IT field and in which sectors? 
My professional experience is mainly focused on the laboratory, so working at Clinisys is my first contact with the IT world « from the inside ».  

What professional experience has been most beneficial to you? 
I believe that having had experience in a laboratory makes it easier for me to understand the needs of customers in my current job. 

What does your work consist of? 
My job is to make Gestlab the only tool that our clients use. So I train them on it and look for the best way to cover their needs with the functionalities we offer. 

What do you enjoy most in your day-to-day work? 
What I like most is to look for solutions to problems or situations that have not arisen before. To do this, I try to be in close contact with the rest of my colleagues in the services team, as well as with the support team. Often times, previous experiences in other projects are the key to solve current problems. 

What advice would you give to a young Project engineer? 
I think the best advice would be to actively listen to your customers. Sometimes, the needs they transmit to us may seem insignificant, but you can always find a way to meet them and make the customer satisfied with our product. 

In your opinion, what are the essential competencies and skills to be a good project engineer?  
I think it is essential to have communication skills that allow customers to understand functionalities and concepts that may be somewhat abstract. In addition, other skills such as organization or planning can also be very useful.
