What is the Public Health 3.0 Framework? Everything You Need to Know

Kim Futrell, MT(ASCP), MSHI Public Health Public Health Laboratories (PHL) are an integral part of keeping our population healthy and safe. They have contributed to improvements in population health for decades. See Figure 1. In an effort to continue improving, the public health system is embracing an updated model called Public Health 3.0 (PH3.0) that […]

Demystifying the Next-Generation Sequencing Workflow: Part 1

NGS Workflow Overview The NGS workflow is a multi-step process that creates some challenges for the diagnostic testing laboratory. The chemical processes generate many daughter samples that must be traced back to the original parent specimen. Laboratories need effective naming conventions and a robust LIMS that can maintain chain of custody across the workflow and […]

Human genetics and molecular Diagnostics: Innovative solutions for constantly changing requirements

As the rapid pace of development in human genetics and molecular diagnostics continues unabated, it's worth asking whether traditional laboratory information systems (LIS) are still capable of meeting current requirements in these fields

One central LIS for Ikazia Hospital’s medical laboratory

Ikazia now has a stably maintained LIS with proven functionality that complies in full with all the laboratory’s requirements. Automated processes result in fewer administrative tasks and more time for laboratory work.

Introducing GLIMS Genetics Counselling

In 2019, CliniSys | MIPS launched its Genetics LIS, with a successful phase of development and deployment in Europe. Now, it has launched a clinical counterpart to the system. Stéphane Decap and Emma Huntridge outline the benefits of GLIMS Genetics Counselling to clinicians, laboratories, patients and their families.

5 Ways to Improve POCT ROI

Kim Futrell, MT(ASCP), MSHI Get more benefits from your point-of-care testing (POCT) program The advantage of quick test results to enable faster clinical decisions is one of the major reasons to implement point-of-care testing (POCT). At a time when hospitals and laboratories are under intense pressure, the benefits of patients accessing tests outside the traditional […]

The Rise of Molecular Point-of-Care Testing

Molecular, Point-of-Care Abstract Point-of-care testing (POCT) technology continues to advance at a fast pace, making it easier to shrink complex testing platforms into point-of-care (POC) devices. By testing at a molecular level, the accuracy of the results far surpasses previous POCT methodologies. Molecular POCT devices allow quick, easy-to-use testing in near-patient scenarios where a rapid […]

CliniSys | MIPS launches GLIMS version 10 – bringing new features and benefits

CliniSys | MIPS is pleased to announce the launch of GLIMS 10, which delivers new technologies and capabilities that improve the user experience, security and interoperability.

CliniSys | MIPS launches GLIMS Genetics: an expert laboratory information system for human genetics

GLIMS Genetics has been designed by MIPS to combine the power of a mature laboratory information system (LIS) for ‘traditional’ specialties with the specific needs of genetics, including those linked to more recent technologies such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The solution has already been successfully implemented in France’s university hospital of Poitiers, and will next be deployed in nine more genetics units in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
